HSBC Rewards

HSBC Rewards is the loyalty program offered by HSBC Bank Canada. You can earn points by using credit cards linked to HSBC Rewards. These points can be used to get rewards like travel, merchandise, gift cards, and even contribute towards certain HSBC banking products.

  • HSBC has multiple cards that allow you to earn HSBC Rewards. In order to be eligible for the WB, you cannot have had the same HSBC card within the 12 months before applying.

  • It is not possible to transfer HSBC Rewards points from one user to another.

  • You can use HSBC Rewards points to get a statement credit for eligible travel purchases at a fixed rate of 0.5 CPP.

If you want to cash out the travel enhancement credit and HSBC Rewards points, you can use the refundable hotel trick. Just make a refundable booking for travel and redeem your points for a statement credit. After canceling the booking, you'll receive a statement credit. You can do all of this online by accessing your HSBC Rewards account.

  • With HSBC Rewards, you can change your points into airline miles for a few different airlines at certain ratios. However, your account name must match between your HSBC Rewards and your airline loyalty account. Here are the ratios:

    • British Airways Executive Club 25,000:10,000

    • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles 25,000:8,000

    • Singapore Airline KrisFlyer 25,000:8,000

You must convert at least 25,000 points at a time, and then in increments of 10,000 points. If you have, for example, 80,000 points, you may need to do two separate conversions, like 45,000 points and 35,000 points, to access all your points. If you only do one conversion, it will be capped at 75,000 points, which means you'll have 5,000 points left over that you can't use.

  • HSBC Rewards points will not expire if you have an HSBC Rewards-earning card.
